Explains that Administration does not have the legal authority to disapprove state SCHIP expansions that rely on income disregards.
Congressional
Senators Baucus (D-MT) and Rockefeller (D-WV) introduced a resolution to halt implementation of the August 17th CMS directive. Due to procedural issues, it appears the Senate will not be able to act of the resolution.
Representatives Pallone (D-NJ) and Shea-Porter (D-NH) have introduced a bill, H.R. 5998, that would place a moratorium on the directive.
Senators Rockefeller (D-WV), Kennedy
(D-MA), and Snowe (R-ME) have introduced a bill, S. 2819, that would suspend the directive.
